Character's Name: Sidney Rosenstein, popularly known as Sid.
Occupation: Owner/manager of the Paragon Club.
Gender: Male.
Age: Fifty-three.
Height: 5' 8".
Hair Color: Brown, going gray at the temples and thinning.
Eye Color: Brown.
Physical Description: Sid's figure is square and slightly paunchy. He has a jug-eared, jowly, bulldog face--a classic "mug".
Country/Hometown: New York, USA.
Immediate Family: Children Tara (14), Holly (11), and Caleb (7). Sid's wife, Caroline, was murdered by Nocturne.
Personality: What Sid lacks in education, he makes up for with a larger-than-life style, spurred by a slightly frustrated sense of showmanship. Generous, genial, and rather boisterous, he is always ready to laugh at a joke, or to meet new people with a smile and a handshake. He tends to take charge of situations with a sort of friendly bullying, backed up by his tough-guy looks, although friends and employees know his bark is far worse than his bite. He takes intense pride in his club; he can be grumpy when bogged down by the details of running it, but deep down he enjoys every aspect of the business. However, his greatest love is his family. He was devastated by his wife's murder, but he turned his grief into a resolve to bring justice to her killer. He is fiercely devoted to his children and friends, and anyone who might threaten them will discover that he can still be a very dangerous man.
Weaknesses: Sid's Mafia connections are sometimes useful, but also a liability. He refuses to "rat" on his old cronies, and he still feels bound to do small favors for them on occasion. His cousin-in-law, crime boss Tony Comancini, has never liked Sid much--and he has an avaricious interest in the Paragon Club.
Additional Skills: Although he's slowing down a bit, Sid is still more than capable of holding his own in a fistfight, and he can handle various guns and knives expertly. He's also fairly adept at picking locks. However, his preferred skill these days is his ability to get things done through sheer force of personality.
Hobbies/Interests: Sid's work is his hobby. He loves fussing over every detail of his club, and being there every night to greet his guests personally. By day, he is a loving family man who spends a great deal of time with his kids.
Personal History: Sid was a minor strongarm with the Comancini crime family until the age of thirty-seven, when he fell in love with the daughter of mob boss Enzio Comancini. Her father approved of their marriage--with the peculiar proviso that Sid quit the mob, as he did not want his only child's husband to risk going to prison. Sid happily agreed; he married Caroline, started a family, and pursued his dream of opening a nightclub. (Whether the mob helped, financially or otherwise, is a question Sid refuses to answer. His father-in-law had ordered that no one should involve him in any illegal activities, but this rule may have been subject to a certain amount of bending.)
The Paragon Club was reasonably successful, but Sid wanted something that would truly set it apart. He found that when he met Alex Malone, a gifted entertainer who happened to be a mutant. Having been taught about the wrongs of prejudice by his parents, who were survivors of the Holocaust in Nazi Germany, Sid was himself very accepting of mutants. He hired Alex to perform at the Paragon--and "Foxy Malone" soon became a hit. The two men developed a firm friendship, and Alex was all but adopted by Sid's family, even being named godfather of his son.
After a series of events led Nocturne to murder Caroline, the grieving Sid pledged himself to help bring down the mutant mafia. Beyond that, he is also concerned about his cousin-in-law Tony, who is now head of the Comancini crime family and has his eyes on the Paragon Club.
Anything else:
After Caroline was murdered, Sid's oldest daughter Tara manifested a mutation, growing gills and a spinal ridge of scales. Alex Malone confided his own nature to her then. However, the younger children Holly and Caleb are still unaware that Alex is a mutant.
