Character's Name: Dr. Sara McLain
Mutant Nickname: Medic
Mutant Power(s): Her primary power is that she is medically empathic, meaning she can sense the medical problems of the people around her. She gains knowledge of the problem, allowing her to "diagnose" it accurately. She has recently developed empathy not completely medically-related, meaning she has started sensing the emotions of those around her. The emotions she senses are those of strong feeling, such as intense anger, sadness, or happiness.
Occupation: ER doctor
Gender: Female
Age: 32
Height: 5'5"
Hair Color: Dark brown
Eye Color: Brown
Physical Description: Petite and slender with chocolate brown eyes and even darker brown hair that goes to her shoulders. She generally wears her hair pulled back, either in a ponytail or a messy knot of a bun. She's never seen without her white lab coat, usually over a simple button down blouse and a pair of nondescript pants.
Country/Hometown: Meridian, Mississippi, USA
Immediate Family: Parents Will and Janet McLain residing in Mississippi, who don't know she's a mutant. No siblings.
Personality: Sara is calm and nurturing most of the time, though she does have a bit of a temper when riled. She's not a pushover by any means, though she does tend to be more passive than aggressive. She doesn't tend to seek out battles, but will fight them if necessary and if they come to her. She isn't extremely social about herself, preferring to listen to others' problems, so she tends to be a bit of a loner.
Weaknesses: Sara isn't a physical fighter by any means, and her power is too useful in a physical fight. And though she has a rather strong mind, Sara has been known to be arrogant and sometimes make stupid decisions because she thinks she can handle something.
Additional (Non-Mutation) Skills: As a trained ER doctor, Sara is capable of providing emergency medical aid.
Hobbies/Interests: Sara, as an ER doctor, doesn't have a lot of time on her hands, but when she does, she enjoys watching romantic comedy films, unless she's curled up with a good mystery novel or the latest medical journal.
Personal History: Sara, unlike many of her patients and many of her brothers-in-mutation, had a perfectly happy childhood. Her parents loved her and, occasionally, spoiled her. She had no siblings, so she was the apple of her parents' eye. Her mutation, since it has no physical effects, wasn't well-known though it manifested at the age of twelve. Her empathic insight to any medical problems was just thought of as good intuition.
She didn't actually realize she was a mutant until she was a 1st year resident in the ER and managed to correctly diagnose a patient with a rather alluding disease. She handled the matter quite well; convincing people it was because she studied so much all the time. Since then, she's mastered her ability, and can hide the pain she feels from her patients’ quite well. With her new empathic power evolving, she's become rather unsure of herself.
A competent doctor, Sara is used to working long days and having no sleep as a regular basis. She's kept her mutant secret from her parents, her colleagues, and the administrators at the hospital. She's been very careful to make sure any off-the-wall diagnoses she makes can be somehow explained, if only by providing a medical text she's read.
Sara is rather neutral when it comes to Nicholas Tiernan's activities, not knowing about his criminal involvement. She thinks he's a Good Samaritan since, as far as she knows, he's trying to help mutants.
Anything Else: She's ambidextrous to a certain degree. While she writes with her right hand, she tends to do everything else with her left.
Her nickname "Medic" is the nickname her father gave her when she was a child due to her obvious medical intuition (actually her mutation). For Sara, it's stuck ever since.
