This is a general storyline summary, intended to help new players catch up on what is happening. It will be edited as important events occur in the game.
On the surface, Tiernan Enterprises is a so-called "consulting firm" which--even to human observers--is clearly interested in advancing mutant welfare. The seemingly urbane, but highly elusive philanthropist Nicholas Tiernan has spent millions of dollars providing displaced mutants with shelter, jobs, and any other support they need.
But the secret of Tiernan Enterprises is that those charities are funded by crimes against ordinary humans. It is a mutant mafia engaged in drug trafficking, extortion, and virtually every other racket familiar to organized crime--a misguided Robin Hood campaign, preying on humans in order to give to mutants. Nor is it a proverbial band of merry men, for this mutant underworld is as twisted and violent as any human gang. And Nick Tiernan's charity does not come cheap; his ultimate plans call for a mutant revolution, and when he is prepared to take action, he expects to have the loyalty of every downtrodden mutant he has aided. Slowly but surely, Tiernan is recruiting an army.
If New York City--and perhaps even the world beyond--is to be spared from Nocturne's grip, it will require new heroes who can counter the power of his growing mutant army. It will need other mutants who are willing to rise up and defend the human population that has so often reviled and rejected them.
The only question is: who?
