New York City, USA. Throughout its history, it has been a destination for immigrants, a melting pot for cultures... and now, a refuge for mutants. Manhattan is the home to a growing subculture for those whose natural gifts have made them outcasts from ordinary society. They come in search of new beginnings, adventure, or simply anonymity among the masses. Many find their way to Lusus Naturae, a "mutie bar" where others like them gather. And some, willingly or unwillingly, end up in the hands of the bar's mysterious owner--for the mutant philanthropist Nocturne has plans of his own for mutantkind, and every lost soul who drifts through his door risks becoming a pawn in his game.
Lusus Naturae is a roleplaying game which, although based on the X-Men movies, utilizes all-new settings and characters. Our players are invited to explore a dangerous, exciting new underworld in New York, where many will come face to face with the choice between good and evil. Will your character side with the mutant mafia, or take a stand against it for the sake of humanity?
The Rules
1. No canon characters from the X-Men universe. This game is limited to original characters only. Also, "children" or other relatives of canon X-Men characters are not accepted. You won't get grief for reusing relatively obscure codenames that Marvel has already used in the comics, but your character had better be completely different from any canon character using the same name.
2. Limit of three mutant powers per character. Because nobody enjoys playing with an all-powerful destroyer. Please note that radically unusual physical features, such as the blue skin and tail of the canon character Nightcrawler, count as one power; even in New York, we don't want too many obvious freaks. And if you do give your mutant more than one power, please try to make them sensibly related in some way.
3. No slash. Don't even try to argue this point; it's non-negotiable. Every other game on the net is open to slash, but the fact is that some people are simply not comfortable with it, and I want them to have one game where they can play without being deluged by it.
4. Posts should be kept to a PG-13 rating. Explicit sexual situations are not permitted; this is a game for players who want to focus on plot and character, not hormones. We're less strict on violence, but let's not get into anything too graphic there either, okay?
5. All roleplaying posts must be written in a third-person perspective. This is simply to ensure continuity and clarity.
6. Players should play all of their characters under the same username. Creating a separate account for each character is unnecessarily complicated and confusing.
7. Civil behavior is required. This is a given. Players must respect one another (and their characters), as well as the moderator's authority. Any disputes should be settled out of character, or if necessary addressed to the moderator. Players who cause trouble will get two warnings; three strikes, and you're out.
If you have any questions, feel free to post them in the Moderator's Office.
