Character's Name: Henry Casselton.
Occupation: Owner and manager of Casselton Mortuary.
Gender: Male.
Age: Forty-nine.
Height: 5' 6".
Hair Color: Brown, with a sprinkling of gray.
Eye Color: Brown.
Physical Description: Short and trim. Always well-dressed.
Country/Hometown: Gravesend, England.
Immediate Family: None.
Personality: Henry is an intelligent and efficient businessman, who does not make light of the fact that his occupation revolves around other people's tragedies. In his interactions with people, he is impeccably polite and empathetic--traits developed through long years of working with bereaved families. He is kind-hearted, and has a gentle, sometimes quirky sense of humor.
Weaknesses: His unexpressed feelings toward Miriam tend to make him overprotective of her. He also has a slight antagonism toward Alex Malone, who he at least subconsciously perceives as a threat to his connection with Miriam.
Additional Skills: Henry is very adept in dealing with people. As a voracious reader, he also has a bounty of useless academic knowledge, mostly in the realm of history and mythology. He is still capable of doing the work of embalming bodies, although he now prefers to leave this to his staff.
Hobbies/Interests: Egyptology and reading.
Personal History: Early in the twentieth century, Henry Casselton's grandfather was a British archaeologist who had excavated several relatively minor tombs in Egypt. Henry grew up surrounded by Egyptian antiquities and lore, and his interest in their burial practices ultimately led him to become a mortician. He moved to America as a young man, and eventually opened his own mortuary in New York.
Through his work, he became the friend and confidante of Doctor Miriam Van Linden. When she discovered the actions of the mutant mafia, she shared her knowledge with Henry. He pledged his support to her, and became part of the subsequent resistance movement, offering the mortuary as a safe meeting place.
Anything else:
Henry is in love with Miriam, but has not revealed his feelings, knowing that she sees him only as a father figure. It was he who gave her both the nickname "Nephthys", and the ankh pendant she always wears.
His private office is decorated with a number of Egyptian artifacts unearthed by his grandfather, including such funerary objects as canopic jars and embalming tools.
